(MFA) is a growing professional services firm specializing in civil and environmental engineering, environmental sciences, Geographic Details Systems (GIS), land use planning, and landscape architecture. We have 70 employees located in offices in Oregon and Washington. We are establishing an office in Kellogg, Idaho in support of CERCLA investigation, design, and clean-up actions being undertaken by the Coeur d'Alene Trust at the Bunker Hill Mining and Metallurgical Complex Superfund Site, located in the Silver Valley. Please visit our website at www.maulfoster.com for more details about our company. POSITION: MFA is seeking a full time Staff Environmental Scientist for our Kellogg, Idaho office. The perfect applicant will have a strong experience in many of the following: CERCLA RI/FS and RD/RA; mine site remediation; soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling; drilling and well installation oversight; classification of soil and rocks; preparing site maps and geologic/hydrogeologic cross sections; and contour mapping. This position will provide technical support for projects involving site investigation, risk assessment and remediation and will assist with the preparation of cost estimates and reports. Physical requirements: This position typically involves the performance of certain physical duties including, but not limited to, lifting, use of respiratory equipment and other protective gear, operation of complex machinery, traversing rough terrain and transporting equipment various distances. The position also involves extended periods of sitting or standing. The position generally requires a min of 40 hours per week with some situations requiring extended hours. - HAZWOPER 40-Hour training and requisite 8-hour updates
- Logging boreholes
- 3 to 7 years of experience in geology, hydrogeology or related environmental sciences
- Soil and groundwater sampling
- CERCLA RI/FS and RD/RA
- Cost estimating
- Master's degree in geology or related environmental sciences - Mine site reclamation and remediation
- Professional geologist certification in Idaho
- Installing and developing wells (monitoring, production, recovery, extraction)
- Bachelor's degree in geology or related environmental sciences - Sound technical capabilities and organizational and problem-solving skills - Expertise to formulate and clearly communicate ideas - Strong oral and written correspondence abilities - Current knowledge of Ms word and Ms excel Desired Skills and Experience:
- Environmental remediation and site restoration
- Field logistics
- Reports, proposal, and presentation materials development
